In Summer 2010, Robotics Team 254, which I led at the time, decided to build a T-Shirt Shooting Robot to be used for promotional events. I was the lead designer and project manager for the project from planning to completion, a role which involved everything from leading meetings to managing purchasing and procurement of parts. After two months of hard work, the robot debuted at a spirit rally at our school, Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose. The robot was received very well and was loved by the students at the rally.
Shockwave is a high powered robot and was the first of its type ever built. The robot was featured in numerous publications including Sports Ilustrated, Gizmodo, Make, Hack A Day, AOL Tech News, Switched and hundreds of others.
The robot is regularly featured at athletic events for the San Jose Sharks, Stanford University and Santa Clara University. The robot also shot shirts into the crowds at the 2011 FIRST & VEX Robotics World Championships.
Additional information on Shockwave can be found on the Team 254 Website.
